Oregon - Crab fishing: The Deadliest Catch

Hey, I have some time.

I tried to call you, but you didn't answer. Maybe again later
tonight. Happy birthday, your the bestest friend I have, keep up the
good work! So here's the 411 with crabbing!

This isn't our first boat ride, my dad even brought the crab measuring
sticks and eating sticks with him, so we were fully prepared. This
was the first time for Kiara and the kids. Kiara is a champ, she
doesn't like sea food at all and she is so happy to eat a hamburger as
we smell up the place with crab. (I like Kiara, such a sunny
disposition all the time and she is a hard worker, love that!).

So we man these boats, but unlike Old man and the Sea, these are just
tiny motor boats and I the captain of mine with Travis, Rachel and
Emma. We have 3 nets and you drop them strategically then turn around
pull them up and hopefully you have crabs! That's the exciting thing,
pulling up the traps! These specific ones lay flat and once you pull
it, it traps the crabs, so you have to pull fast...also adds to the
excitment. For 3 hours we try dropping the traps where they will come
up most profitable. MY FAVORITE line of the day is we pulled one trap
and it came up empty and Rachel yelled at the net calling it a douche
bag!!! right in front of Emma, I lost it it was sooo funny. Then we
passed like 100 seals so I kept saying, "if those seals eat our bait
I'm going to go club a seal!" The seals are notorious for eating the
bait, what is the bait? skinned minks.

This was the lowest crab crabbing we've ever had. We came back with
only 11 (my boat 7 the other 4, who's the better captian!!), but that
was at least one for everyone. Got tons of pictures. While we set up
for dinner I taught Andrew and Emma the rules to ping pong and
foosball. The crazy thing is Ali (or we are starting to call her Z)
loves fooseball! She grabbed at the handles and all the kids were
doing pretty well. It was a highlight to teach them.
Oh and another crazy thing about the kids....Z doesn't talk cuz she's
2 but she sings the theme song to Indiana Jones. Da da da, da da,
dada da, da da da da da ....... It's eriely accurate. On the boat
Emma was doing the darth vadar march song. Duh duh duh da duh duh da
da duh! Weird to see them do that. Well everyone is at the beach or
the store. I'm home alone and it feels nice. Big day with all the
whales, seals and crabs and kids!

Hope your birthday turned out great! Happy 30th!
